As we transition from our 2023 season and begin the preparations for the 2024 river season, I find myself standing in front of another siginificant transition. In a very bittersweet fashion, I find myself stepping back from my role here in the office. I’ll be moving into a new position working to help develop and remove barriers of access to recreational programming in northern community.
While this is an opportunity I am excited for, it is with a heavy heart that will I no longer be at this chair, connecting with many of you in my day-to-day. I certainly won’t be a stranger, however, and so don’t hesitate to reach out if you happen to be in the North. The team here will be able to put us in touch, and I hope to be on the rivers in the summer with some of you whenever the opportunity to guide comes by.
I cannot understate my appreciation for the Hibbard family who have given me the chance to be a part of their vision for the last several years; for the guide team whose passion, kindness, drive, and talent continue to inspire me in my own guiding; and to the guests who have shared their dreams of the North, their stories from the rivers, and the impact these experiences have given them – well past the takeout. You have all been what has made this such an amazing adventure to be a part of.
As I move into my new role, rest assured that you’ll be in great hands with the incredible team here at CRE/NRA. Joel and Dana are bringing a new team member up to speed in our Expedition Planning Team, and we will work together to ensure a smooth transition.
I’ll be cheering the team on from wherever I stand, and hope that anyone who reads this has the privilege of experiencing some “River Time” with our team in some of the most beautiful places I’ve had the pleasure of seeing – our home and playground on the great wild rivers of the North.
