The National Parks, clean water, access to free flowing rivers, the skills with which to travel wilderness rivers; each of these simply existed when I was young.
Over the past 10 years, as we have grown Canadian River Expeditions and Nahanni River Adventures, it has become clear that the blessings we enjoy would not exist without the efforts of those who have come before.
While our charitable work and giving has been focused on the North and the communities we live and work in, in 2024 it was our privilege to help support a crucial component of the river running community and a river access initiative.
The Paddler Co-op on Ontario’s Madawaska River, is a fantastic non-profit organization that has helped educate, train and inspire generations of paddlers and shown the path north to countless paddlers. They are also a crucial component of the river access mix on the Madawaska allowing paddlers access to this whitewater playground!
The Paddler Co-op team has been on a quest to raise funds to purchase the land they operate on. As part of their efforts Nahanni River Adventures donated the adventure of a lifetime with a trip for two on the Nahanni River.
They were highly prized during the auction and brought in over $12,400!
Those who have journeyed rivers like the Nahanni, Brokenskull, Wind and Mountain River know some training and instruction goes a long way to letting you enjoy your adventure. As you plan your 2025 adventures be sure to give the Paddler Co-Op a call!
